Our Story

My name is Rebecca Kern, my husband and I live in beautiful Seneca SC.  We have been married for over 26 years, raised 3 boys, and now have the pleasure of a granddaughter.  Our story is typical; high school sweethearts, married early, joined the military (my husband, not me) straight out of high school and moved back home after his duty was met.  I went to work at a local plant and ended up staying for over 25 years in Logistics/Supply Chain/Management. During that same time, my husband built a successful business on Lake Keowee, hence Lake Keowee Labradoodles.  All of our adult lives have been centered around our boys academic and athletic endeavors and work. My oldest graduated college and moved away, my middle is now working in my husband’s business, and our youngest is looking at which college he’d like to go to. My vegetable garden is also a huge part of my life. Gardening is not only a food source, it’s therapy for me and I love it.  Plus, my garden gives me outside “doggy” time so that I can be with my dogs in a variety of atmospheres.

Our labradoodle journey started with our granddaughter, who stays with me during the days.  I told my husband that she needed a dog. Once we started looking at labradoodles, and then Australian Labradoodles, there was no other choice but an ALD.  We fell in love instantly. As with anything else we do, we started researching. What we found is that yes, these dogs are allergy friendly. Yes, it’s true that these dogs do not shed.  Yes, these dogs do not smell bad. Yes, these dogs are extremely smart. Yes, these dogs are the sweetest animals. And in addition, they are very beautiful.

Once decided, we are all in.  We are a small southern family breeder exclusively of genuine multi-generation Australian Labradoodles.  Please see the labradoodle history section for more information on what this means to you. Our puppies will be whelped in our home, in a loving environment, with the “Puppy Culture” application for each litter.  All of our dogs will be health tested and cleared prior to breeding and we offer a 2 year guarantee on all of our puppies. We do not choose a puppy for you; however, we will give you recommendations based on your application.  We would not want to place a highly active puppy with a minimally active family. Our home is open for tours by appointment so that you can be comfortable with where your new family member is coming from.
